The Chairperson of the Bar Association met with the Senior Justice Advisor of the U.S. Embassy’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Michael Vasko, and Political Officer Kerry McIntosh. Irakli Kandashvili hosted the program representatives at the Association’s office.

Mr. Irakli Kandashvili hosted Ms. Alexandra Shephard at the office of the Georgian Bar Association. The Political Counsellor congratulated Mr. Kandashvili on his election as Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association and wished him success in his role. She also placed particular emphasis on the role of lawyers in strengthening the rule of law and in ensuring an independent and effective justice system.

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties reviewed the long-standing and active cooperation between the Georgian Bar Association and International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), and discussed the important projects implemented with INL’s support for the development of the legal profession, including initiatives aimed at strengthening the jury trial system and raising public awareness. The parties also welcomed the prospects for future cooperation.

During the meeting held at the Government Administration, the Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association introduced the Prime Minister to the Association’s future plans and key priorities.

During the meeting, Mr. Xavier Bellmont congratulated Irakli Kandashvili on his election as Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association and wished him success in his work. During the meeting, the parties reviewed the long-standing and active cooperation between the Georgian Bar Association and the Council of Europe’s Georgia Office. They discussed key projects implemented by the Association with the support of the Council of Europe for the development of the legal profession and welcomed opportunities for future collaboration.
