Organized by the Georgian Bar Association and supported by the U.S. Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), the second session of the certified course “Summer School: Representation in Mediation 2026” was held.
During the course, participants, together with the experts, examined the criteria for selecting the appropriate Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) process, the stages of case assessment and mediation preparation, the mediator selection process, as well as issues related to drafting settlement agreements and their enforcement. Particular emphasis was placed on negotiation techniques and practical skills, including effective negotiation strategies, practical approaches to overcoming impasses in mediation, and persuasive advocacy techniques.
The session also covered court-connected ADR programs, ethics and professional responsibility in mediation, the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (Singapore Convention on Mediation), and other important legal issues.
Upon completion of the “Summer School: Representation in Mediation 2026,” participants were awarded certificates issued by the U.S. Department of State's Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP). The certificates were presented by the Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association, Irakli Kandashvili, and CLDP Representative Anna Sherman.
The project aims to deepen both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of newly admitted lawyers and participants of the Professional Adaptation Program in the field of mediation, enabling them to make more effective use of mediation opportunities in their professional practice.
