Ilia State University became the winner of the National Moot Court Competition in Jury Trial. The final competition took place between the teams of Ilia State University and Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University.
The final event was attended by the Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association, Davit Asatiani, the Prosecutor General of Georgia, Irakli Shotadze, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Nino Kadagidze, and the US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin L. Dunnigan attended along with other invited guests.
The winners were also announced in the categories of Best Opening Speech, Best Closing Speech, Best Direct Examination and Best Cross-Examination.
Within the National Moot Court Competition in Jury Trial, trainings and inter-university mock trials were held in 11 universities for two months. A total of 22 teams participated in the project.
The project was implemented by the Georgian Bar Association with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America (INL), in cooperation with the Georgian Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Court.
