The Georgian Bar Association, in cooperation with the Law Society of England and Wales, hosted the English Law Forum in Tbilisi. The event brought together Georgian lawyers alongside British barristers and solicitors to engage in high-level legal dialogue.
The forum was officially opened with welcome remarks by David Asatiani, Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association; Paata Salia, Minister of Justice of Georgia; Gareth Ward, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Georgia; Richard Atkinson, President of the Law Society of England and Wales; and solicitor-advocate Ruslan Ugrekhelidze.
The forum featured discussions on key topics including business law, international arbitration institutions, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and the rule of law. Participants also had the opportunity to explore best practices from the United Kingdom’s legal system.
This marks the second time the English Law Forum has been held in Georgia, further strengthening professional ties between legal communities in the UK and Georgia.
The forum aspires to become a regional platform for expert-led discussions on pressing legal issues, with the participation of professionals from across neighboring countries.
