0n March 12-15, the Chairman of Georgian Bar Association- Zaza Khatiashvili and the members of

the Executive Board Irakli Kandashvili and David Asatiani had an extraordinary visit to Iraq, in the city

of Baghdadi. The aim of the visit was institutional support of Iraq Bar Association and introduction

of the Georgian successful model on the example of Iraq Bar. Despite of the current difficult combat

situation in Iraq, the Georgian delegation went to support the Iraqi colleagues and share experience.

In the frames of the conference, the Georgian delegation shared the experience of institutional

development of GBA, introduced the Iraq colleagues to the system of continuous legal education,

the system of working the regional offices of GBA and the role of legal profession in the system of

justice. The meeting was ended by signing the bilateral memorandum. The visit was organized and

implemented by the support of the USAID program “Access to justice”.
