Sophio Machavariani

In 2001, Sophio  graduated from the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University.

In 2004, she graduated from the Postgraduate Department of the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University, specializing in civil law, and in 2015, he completed his doctoral studies at the same faculty in the direction of civil (corporate) law and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Law.

In 2001-2007, she worked as an assistant judge in the Administrative and Other Category Cases Chamber of the Supreme Court of Georgia.

In 2007-2010, she was a judge of the Civil and Administrative Cases Panel of the Tbilisi City Court.

In 2010-2013, Sophio worked as the Head of the Litigation Group of the Legal Department of JSC “Liberty Bank”.

During the same period, she was an arbitrator of LLC “Dispute Resolution Center” (DRC).

In 2014, she held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Bureau at the National Bureau of Enforcement of LEPL of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

From September 2014 to July 2024, she continued his work at JSC “Liberty Bank” as the Deputy Head of the Legal Department and Head of the Litigation Department.

Since 2018, she has also been continuously engaged in private law practice as a managing partner at LLC “GSTlegal” and LLC “TSTlegal”.

In 2021, she obtained the Licensed Insolvency Practitioner Certificate and continues to practice as a practitioner on ongoing insolvency cases.

From June 2024 to January 2025, Sophio was the Co-Director and Head of the Legal Department of the International Finance Institute, "Palladis" LLC.

Sophio Machavariani has been engaged in teaching for many years in parallel with her professional activities. From 2012 to the present, she has been a visiting lecturer at the Master's degree program of the Georgian Technical Institute, in the field of comparative corporate law. She also lectured on demand security at the Bachelor's and Master's degrees of Tbilisi State University from 2014 to 2023.

She has also been a mentor at the Business Law Clinic of the Free University since 2014 and a visiting lecturer at the Master's degree program of the same university. The lecture course in the Master's degree program covers issues of the law of security and enforcement of transactions.

Sophio Machavariani is the author of a number of scientific publications and monographs and is an international Conference participant.

Sophio Machavariani is also a member of the Bar Association and Co-Chairman of the Insolvency Law Committee, a member of the Association of Arbitrators, a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association (BRIPA) and a member of the Disciplinary Committee, an associate member of the Georgian Law Firms Association (SIFA).

She is also a member of the Disciplinary Committee of Public School #55 since 2023.

Sophio Machavariani has the skills to use MS Office software products professionally.

She is fluent in Georgian, Russian and English.
