The Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association hosted the Ambassador of Austria

The Georgian Bar Association was honored to host an introductory visit by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Georgia, H.E. Mr. Robert Gerschner. Chairman Irakli Kandashvili welcomed the Ambassador at the office of the Georgian Bar Association.

Within the framework of the meeting, Ambassador Robert Gerschner congratulated Irakli Kandashvili on his election as Chairman of the Georgian Bar Association and wished him success in his professional endeavors. He also emphasized the important role of lawyers in strengthening the rule of law and ensuring an independent and effective system of justice.

For his part, Irakli Kandashvili introduced the Ambassador to the organizational structure of the Georgian Bar Association, its main areas of activity, and the specifics of its work. He also presented key programs and initiatives that the Association plans to implement to further develop the legal profession.

During the meeting, Irakli Kandashvili informed the Ambassador about the challenges related to the proposed amendments to the Law of Georgia on Free Legal Aid and shared the position of the legal profession on this matter. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of safeguarding the independence of the legal profession and maintaining the inviolability of professional standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation and agreed to promote professional events and joint initiatives between the professional associations of the two countries in the future.
