STATEMENT OF THE GEORGIAN BAR ASSOCIATION

We strongly support the just fight of the Ukrainian people to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their country. An aggressive war against an independent State and the violation of its sovereignty represents a grievous breach of international law and an egregious attack on fundamental principles of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

We call on the international community to fully support an independent Ukraine and take all measures to stop the Russian government and the war.

We are in constant communication with the Ukrainian National Bar Association and are ready to provide them with all possible assistance. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Georgian Bar Association has already launched a pro bono legal project to provide free legal assistance to Ukrainian citizens in Georgia.
