In recent times, there has been an increase in unfounded and defamatory statements directed against lawyers who, within the scope of their professional duties, defend the interests of either defendants or victims, particularly in high-profile criminal cases.
Regrettably, certain interested parties have engaged in hate speech, targeted offensive campaigns, baseless accusations, and extreme defamation against lawyers, all aimed at discrediting those involved in specific cases.
We wish to state clearly that identifying a lawyer with their client or their client’s interests is unacceptable. A lawyer acts within the bounds of the law and professional ethics, and it is their duty to protect the rights of their client, regardless of public sentiment toward that client.
We call on all concerned individuals to refrain from attacking lawyers, as such actions are unlawful and, in some cases, may constitute elements of a criminal offense — which will inevitably result in legal consequences.
