Evaluations of Judicial Candidates for the Supreme Court of Georgia

The Executive Board of the Georgian Bar Association approved the establishment of a Working Group to evaluate judicial candidates in connection with the ongoing process in the Parliament of Georgia concerning the selection and confirmation of justices for the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Working Group is composed of the Executive Director of the Georgian Bar Association and several members of the Bar’s Committee on Justice and Judicial Reforms.

In total, the working group evaluated nine judicial candidates. The evaluation process was based on interviews conducted by the High Council of Justice of Georgia, observation of the parliamentary hearings, and the review of other relevant information concerning the candidates. The working group assessed the candidates using fair and objective criteria in accordance with the previously developed evaluation methodology.

The Bar Association submitted the evaluation report prepared by the working group to the Parliament of Georgia.
